02The story

We started where most repair shops quietly avoid going.

Fix It Lads opened because too many people in the GTA were being told their device was "unfixable" when it wasn't. Or being charged $400 for a $90 part. Or being asked to leave their phone for two weeks for what should be a same-day repair.

So we built a bench. A real one. ESD-safe, microscope-equipped, with the gear most chain stores don't bother investing in. We learned to do the work others outsource — board-level repair, microsoldering, water-damage rescue — and we charge fair, fixed prices for it.

Today the shop runs out of Unit 202 at 120 Matheson Blvd East, just off the QEW. We've handled over 3,000 devices and counting. Most repairs go out the door same-day. A few take a week. None take two without a real reason.

Three rules. Same as day one.

Tell the truth.

If your device isn't worth repairing, we say so. If we don't know what's wrong, we say that too. The diagnostic is free precisely so we have no incentive to oversell.

Do the work.

OEM parts when available. ESD-safe bench. Microscope for board-level repair. Torque specs followed to the gram. Twenty-two-point QC check before anything leaves.

Stand behind it.

Ninety days on parts AND workmanship. If our repair fails on its own, we redo it free. No fine print, no "depends what caused it" — if we touched it, we own it.

ESD-safe workstation
Anti-static mat, grounded wrist strap, controlled humidity. Boards don't fry on our bench.
Stereo microscope (40× / 10×)
For component-level work — lifting BGA chips, repairing trace damage, microsoldering 0201 parts.
Hot-air rework stations
Quick 861DW + JBC tools. Per-component temperature control for safe BGA reflow without cooking adjacent ICs.
Specialized data recovery hardware
For stubborn cases where consumer software fails — drives that won't spin, controllers that won't respond, sectors with ECC errors.
Ultrasonic cleaner + isopropyl bath
Standard procedure for any liquid-damaged device. Removes corrosion before electrical testing.
22-point QC test bench
Every device passes through it before leaving — touch, mic, speakers, sensors, charging cycles, thermal soak.
