01Categories we handle

Five device categories. Custom quote per job.

These are the device types we accept that most repair chains refuse. Parts are sourced per-job (we don't carry inventory for the long tail of devices), so quotes take 1–3 days after diagnostic while we confirm part availability + cost.

SMARTWATCHES

Apple Watch · Galaxy Watch · Pixel Watch · Garmin

DRONES

SMART HOME

Echo · Nest · Ring · Hue · Sonos · smart hubs

  • Racing wheel pedals / electronics — $100–$240
  • Arcade stick rebuild — $60–$160 (depending on parts)
  • RGB / lighting controller — quote per device
02Why other shops won't take these

Most repair chains only stock 5 things.

Phone screens. Phone batteries. Laptop batteries. Charging ports. Maybe iPad screens. That's the whole inventory most chain shops carry. Anything outside that gets refused or upsold to "buy a new one."

We work differently. We'll diagnose your device for free. If we can fix it, we source the parts on a per-job basis — takes 1–3 days for parts to arrive, then we quote in writing before any work starts. If we can't fix it, you don't pay.

03What we genuinely won't take

Some categories aren't worth your money.

We're upfront about the device types where repair cost almost always exceeds replacement value — or where we lack the specialized tooling to do the job safely. Save yourself the trip.

  • $30 Bluetooth earbuds

Tiny soldered components, sealed-shut housings, $30 retail price. Even a $40 minimum repair cost makes this a "buy a new pair" call. We're honest about that vs taking your money for a low-success-rate job.

  • Cheap kid tablets / Fire TV sticks

Sub-$60 retail devices where the repair cost approaches the replacement cost. We'll happily diagnose for free and tell you it's not worth it.

  • Devices requiring proprietary tooling we don't have

Some niche devices (specialized medical, certain industrial controllers, legacy enterprise hardware) need vendor-specific service tools we don't own. We'll tell you upfront and try to point you at the right specialist.

  • Devices with active service contracts

If your device is under manufacturer warranty (Apple Watch under AppleCare+, DJI Care Refresh active, etc.), use that first — it'll be cheaper than our retail repair pricing. We'll tell you to check.

04Other-device FAQ

Real questions about niche repairs.

How much does Apple Watch screen repair cost?

Series 4–7: $120–$190. Series 8/9/Ultra: $180–$280. Apple Watch Ultra has more complex assembly, so it's at the higher end. We use OEM-grade replacement screens with proper True Tone calibration. 90-day warranty.

Do you work on DJI drones?

Yes — most consumer DJI models (Mini 2/3/4, Mavic Air/Pro, Air 2/3, FPV). Common repairs: gimbal motor, propeller mount, controller sticks, camera replacement after crash. Specialized work — we sometimes need 1–2 weeks for parts. DJI Care Refresh is usually cheaper if your device is under that program.

Why are quotes for "other devices" slower than phone repairs?

We don't carry inventory for the long tail of devices. After diagnostic, we identify the part needed and source it from established suppliers. That sourcing takes 1–3 days for common parts, sometimes 1–2 weeks for rare devices. We don't quote until we know the actual part cost.

Can you fix my Echo / Sonos / smart speaker?

Often yes. Common fixes: blown speaker driver, dead button, USB-C charging port (newer Echos), motherboard PSU. We diagnose for free and tell you whether it's a viable repair vs cheaper replacement.

I have a broken vintage / collectible device. Will you take it?

Often yes — we love niche work. Vintage cameras, retro electronics, old smart-home prototypes, classic gaming peripherals. We're honest if we don't have the specific tooling required. Bring photos via email first if you're not sure: info@fixitlads.com.

Do you do mods or aftermarket modifications?

Repairs only — bring it back to factory function. We don't install custom firmware, aftermarket boards, modchips, or any modification that changes original behavior. If a customer brings in a device that's already been modded, we'll often need to address the mod before repair.

What's your "no-fix, no-fee" policy on these?

If we can't successfully repair the device, you don't pay anything. The diagnostic stays free. If we attempted the repair (you approved) but couldn't complete it, still no charge. The only fee you pay is the agreed-upon repair price for a successful job.

Do you offer mail-in for these niche devices?

Yes — many of our drone, camera, and smartwatch repairs come in via mail. Email info@fixitlads.com with device + what's wrong and we'll send a prepaid label. Specialized devices may take 2–3 weeks door-to-door because of parts sourcing time.

05Bring it in

Got a weird device? Ask us first.

If you're not sure whether we'd take your device, the answer is almost always "bring it in for a free diagnostic." Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, DJI drone, Echo speaker, GoPro — we'll diagnose and tell you honestly whether it's a viable repair.
